Drivers in the west and south west postcode areas of London are more likely to crash their cars, according to new research by vehicle replacement specialist, Accident Exchange.
The two postcodes together account for over half of all reported incidents, including dents, scrapes and collisions in the capital (50.52 per cent). However, there is a sharp contrast to be found in the east of the capital with east and south east postcode boundaries together only accounting for 18 per cent of the total incidents.
The study also found the western central postcode area, which covers the most central parts of London including Soho, Covent Garden and Bloomsbury was the safest place to park or drive a car.
Lee Woodley of the accident management company said: "Despite car ownership in London being much lower than the rest of the UK, the heavily congested roads, cramped parking and complicated network mean drivers are more at risk from vehicle damage . The high figures of the west and south-west could be the result of a greater daily influx of traffic from the west via the artery M40, M4 and M3 motorways ."
