New car accident app will help consumers take direct control of their claims
Wed, 16 Nov 2011

The growing "compensation culture" in the UK and the knock-on effect of rising insurance premiums, has led the government to announce that it plans to abolish personal injury referral fees.

To help injury victims and those who are genuinely involved in a car accident, a smartphone app called iAccident has been launched which allows claimants at the scene of an accident to immediately capture the key information they need to both validate their own legitimate claims and guard against fraudsters.

The iAccident app is free for consumers to download and use and has been built to be as user-friendly as possible. It incorporates GPS functionality so that accident data is recorded accurately and all images are time and geo-location stamped. Reports are submitted directly to the iAccident database in an encrypted format.

Consumers submit their reports online directly from their smartphone . They are then able to choose between having their report forwarded to their own insurer or solicitor (who may be asked for an administrative charge of £25 plus VAT) or have iAccident deal with it on their behalf.

Roland Maguire, director of iAccident, said: "iAccident is designed to put consumers in direct control of their claims and to undermine unscrupulous operators and put them out of business."
