Axa, an insurance firm, has renewed its call for the government to stop the upward spiral in car insurance costs.
In June of this year it became the first UK insurer to stop selling the details of its customers who have made insurance claims to lawyers. This system of 'referral fees,' was described by Jack Straw as a 'racket.'
Axa want the government to cut the fees of personal injury lawyers who can charge under the 'no win, no free,' arrangement.
This is also as a result of the number of fraudulent insurance claims, many primarily whiplash claims.
It has been pointed out that there as been a 10% drop in the number of road traffic accidents in the UK in the past three years but personal injury claims on motor policies has risen by 43%.
Nonetheless, Axa are at the forefront of trying to remove these referral fees and save individuals money on their car insurance.
