Childminders in Weston are to take part in a march aimed at raising awareness about road safety .
Around 20 childminders and 60 children are expected to take part in the Great British Buggy Push, which has been organised by road safety charity Brake in a bid to raise awareness about the need for drivers to reduce their speed and to help raise funds for the cause.
According to Brake, which offers a support service for road accident victims, as well as general road safety advice for children, motorcyclists and other drivers, the UK has one of the worst records in Europe for child pedestrian safety .
The charitys chief executive Mary Williams said: " Speeding and lack of road safety initiatives is a community problem that can be solved by communities."
"Often speeding drivers live in the same communities where they speed and are at risk of killing children they know. Everyone in the march is urging drivers to slow down."
The Great British Buggy Push will take place on Friday 5th June, starting at Clarence Park from 10.45am.
