AA Expands Driver Education And Training Services
Tue, 07 Jul 2009

The AA has acquired driver training specialist DriveTech in an effort to boost its driver education services.

The AA has been looking to offer more fleet driver training services in preparation for the release of the Government’s new road safety strategy, which will focus on lifelong learning for at-work drivers.

Commenting on the move, Andrew Strong, CEO of AA Services, said: "The AA is delighted to be linking up with Drivetech who is one of the leading fleet risk management and driver education companies."

"By combining forces and considerable road safety knowledge, the AA and Drivetech can become the leading player in promoting practical road safety in the UK."

AA president Edmund King added: "We are keen on expanding our driver education and training services. We still feel much more can be done for fleets and business drivers."

"The AA was already a significant player in the fleet training market but together with DriveTech we can strengthen our potential."

"Both companies are committed to first-class customer service and we will continue this in the fleet and driver education fields."

Drivetech said the acquisition will allow the company to continue and develop its growth plans backed by the AA’s brand and resources, and added it’s "business as usual" for customers.

Managing director Jim Kirkwood, who will remain in his current role, said: "This is yet another important step in the development of the Drivetech business."

"With nearly 20 years practical experience behind us educating and training experienced and more recently young drivers, we are delighted to join with the AA to create a new formidable business focused on delivering road safety education that makes a difference."
